The Uncarved Whole - Hunran Hetian Jade Bangle
Care & maintenance
Jade possesses a unique relationship with its wearer; the natural oils from your skin gently condition and deepen the stone’s luster over time. Frequent, mindful wear is the finest way to maintain the vitality and warmth of your solid bangles and beaded pieces.
Mindful Protection
- Cosmetics & Chemicals: Allow perfumes, lotions, and cosmetics to dry completely before adorning yourself. Harsh chemicals can dull the surface of natural jade, organic pearls, and fine metalwork.
- Impact & Elements: Remove your pieces before strenuous activity, swimming, or entering extreme temperatures (such as saunas or hot springs). While jade is tough, it can fracture under sharp, direct impact against hard surfaces, and chlorine or saltwater will rapidly tarnish silver settings.
Cleansing & Rejuvenation
To refresh your jewelry, gently wipe the stones and beads with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Never subject Hetian jade, pearls, or mother-of-pearl accents to ultrasonic cleaners, steam, or abrasive chemical dips. If the silver components begin to naturally oxidize over time, a gentle buff with a designated jeweler’s polishing cloth will restore their bright finish.

A Form Left As It Was Meant To Be
The bangle's smooth, unbroken circle is a direct expression of 浑然天成, "formed whole by nature," a phrase used in Chinese aesthetics to describe something so complete in its natural state that no further shaping could improve it. Where many jade pieces are carved into motif and detail, this one is valued for exactly the opposite: restraint.
Mastery Read As Knowing When To Stop
Zhuangzi's line 既雕既琢,复归于朴, "having carved and polished, return again to plainness," describes true skill not as endless refinement, but as the discipline to stop once a piece has reached its truest, simplest form. The bangle's rounded outer curve and flat inner face, 外圆内扁, reflect this same restraint: shaped only enough to be worn, never more.
There is nothing here to interpret, only the stone's own quality, warm and even, left to speak for itself. Worn on the wrist, it carries a quiet wish for a life shaped by what's essential, not by what's added.
Details
- Materials: Hetian Jade
- Dimensions: approx. 9.68mm x 7.3mm (band cross-section)
- Available sizes: 52mm, 54mm, 56mm, 58mm, 60mm
How to Choose Your Bangle Size
A Hetian Jade bangle is a closed, unbroken circle. It has no clasp and cannot be adjusted, so the right size matters. Many bangles are worn for years and later passed on, so it is worth a few quiet minutes to measure well.
Method 1: Measure with a ruler
- Position your hand. Hold your hand flat with your fingers together, and let your thumb rest out to the side.
- Measure across your palm. Lay a ruler across the widest part of your palm, just below your fingers. Measure from the edge on the little finger side to the edge on the index finger side, leaving out your thumb.
- Note your measurement in millimetres. For example, 5.5cm is 55mm.
- Find your size. Refer to the size image on the bangle listing to match your measurement to a bangle size.
Method 2: Measure your hand's circumference
- Fold your hand. Bring the tip of your thumb to meet the tip of your little finger, folding your hand as narrow as it comfortably goes.
- Wrap the tape all the way around. Wrap the tape around the widest part of your folded hand, across the knuckles, so it passes over both your palm and the back of your hand and meets itself. Keep it snug, not tight.
- Read the full loop. Note the number where the end of the tape meets the rest of it. This is the whole distance around your hand, front and back together. If using paper, mark where it overlaps, then lay it flat against a ruler.
- Note it in millimetres. For example, 5.5cm is 55mm.
- Find your size. Refer to the size image on the bangle listing to match your measurement to a bangle size.
A Master's Respect For Hetian Jade
Hetian jade is the historical pinnacle of nephrite jade. It is a material that is profoundly special, historically significant, is believed to carry blessings for its owners.
Known as the "stone of heaven" and the soul of the mountain.
We work exclusively with traditional master carvers whose lifetimes are dedicated specifically to reading the natural veins and shaping the contours of hetian jade. Approaching their craft with a reverence that mirrors our own, they ensure the eternal spirit of the stone is preserved in every piece.
Our deep respect for it dictates how we craft every piece.
From Raw Stone To Delivery
Because we only handle hetian jade, our quality control is hyper-specialized. Every piece undergoes inspection before final packaging and delivery.
STEP 1-3
Initial Inspection
1. Artisanal Carving Check: We look for fluid lines, precise detailing, and a design that elevates the natural soul of the jade rather than fighting it.
2. Surface & Polish Inspection: Hetian jade should feel soft and warming to the touch, despite its hardness. We inspect the polish under magnification to ensure the right luster has been achieved.
3. Post-Carving Stress Test: We perform a final structural review to ensure the carving and polishing process introduced no micro-fractures or stress points into the piece.
Step 4-5
Pre-Shipping Inspection
4. Final Inspection: A senior inspector conducts one last inspection for imperfections, and verifies that the physical piece perfectly matches its accompanying documentation, pairing the jade with its official certificate of authenticity and provenance records.
5. Verification & Packaging: Finally, the jade is carefully nestled into our custom, imperial green presentation boxes. This protects the stone's polish while honoring the spiritual weight of the item inside, ensuring it arrives at your door perfectly preserved.
